Hurricane Impacts Continue across Jamaica… High Impacts to Southeast Cuba…JAMAICA: Be in your absolute safest location you can. If the structure you are in starts to fail: Have your shoes on, you can use a mattress, pillow, or blankets to shield yourself from flying objects and glass, use a bucket or a pot to protect your head. Be in the room with the least amount of windows or no windows. Often, the bathroom is safest, and if the walls fail, consider going into the bathtub and putting a mattress or blanket over you and your family members. If you are in the Eye, you will have a 10-20 minute calm period. Use this time to grab extra items near you to shelter yourself. When the other side of the Eyewall returns, the winds will be coming from the reverse direction. SOUTHEAST CUBA: This will still be a Major Hurricane as it moves in tonight. Finish preparations to protect life and property. Major Hurricane Winds are likely, with a surge near Santiago de Cuba, up through Guantanamo Bay. BAHAMAS: This will move near or over Crooked Island and impact Long Island as well. It will still be a Hurricane. Finish preparations to protect life and property. For those looking to help, and to help through a credible charity that has a proven track record, done this before, and done this successfully (and are also well-positioned to help), here is the link: https://www.ccadm.org/Catholic Charities, through the Diocese of Miami, is also flexible enough and skilled enough, to get this where it needs to go. This is a way you can help Jamaica and even Southeast Cuba. I am also working with religious and non-religious entities in Jamaica to see what else can be done. I’ve lost temporary touch with many, as expected, but there will be more on that in the coming days. Regardless, what you’ve done to spread the word (which doesn’t cost a penny), for sure saved lives. I am grateful to be part of this Weather Community. I say this is the best community on social media, and I firmly believed it helped save lives. To those in Jamaica, thank you for all you have done spreading the word and preparing. When this storm isn’t the fancy news headline anymore, I’ll continue to get the word out – best I can – about any needs. Jamaica is so strong. Jamaica is amazing. Thank you for caring – Brian
