Is it too much to ask the federal government to obey the law? The Supreme Court has upheld a lower court’s ruling that the national eviction moratorium instituted by the CDC was unlawful because it wasn’t approved by Congress. Even after the lower court ruled against the moratorium, the CDC went ahead and extended the ban. The Biden administration is sticking to the Aug. 31 deadline to evacuate Americans and U.S. allies from Afghanistan, despite pushback at home and from other G-7 countries. And the FDA issues full approval for the first covid-19 vaccine, which could result in more vaccine mandates.
