The parents of a 4-month-old baby are facing child neglect charges after she was found with multiple broken ribs, authorities said.
According to a police report, the parents said they took their baby to the hospital to get her checked. Hours later, both were under arrest after doctors discovered four broken ribs.
"It's a four-month-old baby that was brought to Nicholas children with four rib fractures, one healing, three acute fractures," a judge said. "And at the time the injuries were discovered, the victim was in the care of her parents, the defendant and the court defendant."
Gabriella Trabrau, 26, and Kevin Carrasco, 27, took the baby to the hospital after reporting hearing a cracking noise and seeing her crying uncontrollably, the report said.
The child protection team, the report said, determined the baby's rib fractures were caused by abuse, and Carrasco told investigators he believed someone had abused his daughter. But did not know who.
He denied ever harming his child.
