Preliminary 4.4-magnitude earthquake rattles Los Angeles

A preliminary 4.4-magnitude earthquake struck about just east of downtown Los Angeles this afternoon, according to the United States Geological Survey and fire officials. There have been no major reports of damage so far, but L.A. Fire Department personnel are surveying neighborhoods to assess critical infrastructure. NBC News’ Liz Kreutz has the latest.
