Monday, November 2, 2026 — The Miami Metropolis daily briefing: the day’s lead story and Miami’s weather in one place.
Today’s Lead Story: 9 Dead After Fiery Learjet 60 Crash in Palm Beach County
Note: the homepage Lead Story slot held this morning’s Local 10 weather edition at gather time, so today’s edition headlines the freshest major story instead — the deadliest crash in South Florida this weekend.
Nine people were killed Sunday when a Learjet 60 business jet crashed in Palm Beach County, U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy reported. The fiery crash left a giant hole in a Palm Beach road, and Gov. Ron DeSantis briefed reporters at the scene as investigators worked to determine what brought the jet down.

Miami Weather: Flood Watch Through 7 PM Tonight, Coastal Flood & Rip Currents Through Tuesday 7 PM
A Flood Watch is in effect for all of South Florida until 7:00 PM EST Monday (extended overnight by NWS Miami — Sunday’s edition carried a 3 PM expiry; the new expiry is 7 PM tonight). Thunderstorms are expected through the day and heavy rain may cause urban and street flooding, so never drive through water of unknown depth. A Coastal Flood Advisory for coastal Miami-Dade and a Rip Current Statement are both in effect until 7:00 PM EST Tuesday (also extended overnight — Sunday’s edition carried a Monday 7 PM expiry for the coastal advisory). Minor to moderate coastal flooding is possible around high tides, and dangerous rip currents are possible at Atlantic beaches — swim only near a lifeguard.
Otherwise it is a wet, breezy Monday in Miami: mostly cloudy, 83°F around midday and feeling like 89°F, humidity around 70%, east winds around 17 mph gusting to 26 mph, and a 100% chance of rain today with thunderstorms. Today’s high: 84°F. Tonight’s low: 77°F. Sunrise was 6:30 AM; sunset is 5:38 PM.
Tomorrow — Tuesday, November 3 (Election Day): mostly cloudy with PM thunderstorms, high 83°F, low 77°F, rain chance about 50%. The Coastal Flood Advisory and Rip Current Statement remain in effect until 7:00 PM. Sunrise is 6:30 AM and sunset 5:37 PM. The week ahead: scattered thunderstorms Wednesday (high 83°F), then drying out — partly cloudy Thursday (high 84°F) and mostly sunny Friday (high 84°F).
